Proof of Eligibility for Discounts
- Honored Citizen & Silver Passes: age 62+ or mobility impaired, Medicare cardholders. Individuals using pass must be present at time of purchase at the Alvarado Transportation Center. You are required to bring either a Red, White, or Blue Medicare card OR you can show your New Mexico ID to prove that your are 62 years of age or older. One of these is required.
- Student Tickets & Passes: students, aged 10 through high school. For students (age 10 through high school), a current school class schedule or student ID must be provided when purchasing a Student bus pass. For 3, 6 and 12 month passes, student must be present at time of purchase at the Alvarado Transportation Center.
- College/Vocational Passes: non UNM or CNM; a current school class schedule or student ID must be provided when purchasing a College pass. Students can only purchase 3, 6 and/or 12 month passes in person at the Alvarado Transportation Center.
- UNM & CNM students & faculty: an ID card with valid sticker is required to qualify for free rides.?

About Fares & Passes
- ABQ RIDE Customer Service Center accepts cash, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
- No refunds on passes.
- Drivers don't carry money and can't open fareboxes to make change.
- Fareboxes only accept U.S. coins - nickels, dimes and quarters - and $1.00 bills. Pennies and half-dollar coins are not accepted. ABQ RIDE fareboxes cannot give change.
- Have exact change ready before boarding.
- Proper identification is required to purchase Silver Monthly Passes and College Monthly Passes. Proof of student status is required to purchase Student Passes.
- Passes aren't valid for special events.
